Meet the ......

Welfare Officer

Our Welfare Officer is Debbie Maughan (Pierce Dixon’s mum). Debbie has been the Club’s Welfare Officer for a year. During the last year Debbie has completed the Safeguarding and Protecting Children Course and the Time to Listen Course.

The role of the Welfare Officer is to assist with the safeguarding and protection of children and young people who participate in aquatic sports. Debbie will be the first point of contact for the Club’s volunteers including coaches, the swimmers and parents for any issue concerning child welfare, poor practice or potential/alleged abuse.

She will ensure that all incidents are correctly reported and dealt with in accordance with the ASA Wavepower guidance. The Welfare Officer is also responsible for ensuring that all relevant members and coaches hold current DBS checks and have received the appropriate training in safeguarding.

You can contact Debbie at hettonasc.welfare@hotmail.com
